Yesterday Early Stages students left the theater chatting, singing, and smiling after seeing the Broadway revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Jesus Christ Superstar.
As always we had many students who were being introduced to Broadway for the first time: “I had never seen a Broadway show before. I couldn’t believe the whole story was told through singing.” ” It was so cool!” “I can’t believe so many people go to the theater!” “I want to do this again!”
Chaperones were surprised that many students were not familiar with the story: “Even though I know the characters I never really paid attention to the story. The music drew me in and I am still thinking about the story.”
One student involved in tech theater at Lower Manhattan Arts Academy, a NYC public HS said: “Seeing Jesus Christ Superstar made me realize how exciting and complicated tech theater really is.”
Everyone had a fantastic time, and we look forward to bringing more students to Jesus Christ Superstar and other great Broadway productions!
